A little bit of history! The Incredible Adventures of Captain Spoon, the Forgetful Pirate was written for Brucemore Outdoor Children’s Theater in 2007 by Joe Link (Jefferson HS drama director). The cast included current Playtime Poppy board members, Brian Smith and Kristen Wilcox, Washington HS drama director, Carrie Tinkham, and Jefferson HS drama director, Bryan Schlotfelt (who is directing the current production at Jefferson!). For the past two summers, Playtime Poppy has partnered with Brucemore to present Outdoor Children’s Theater under the direction of Kennedy HS drama director, Nick Hayes. The Peggy Boyle Whitworth Outdoor Amphitheater at Brucemore has been a fabulous collaboration space for children’s theatre, Cedar Rapids high school drama directors and Playtime Poppy.
