Playtime Poppy Children’s Theatre offers arts education programs to children in classroom and community settings throughout each season. Dedicated to supporting a lifetime love of theatre, Playtime Poppy also offers college scholarships.
Arts education in the classroom
Through our education programs, we engage pre-K and kindergartners in interactive storytelling with Book Adventures, introduce 3rd graders to technical theatre in Operation Backstage, and engage 5th graders in the creation of a performance based upon classroom literature in One Great Line. We also offer matinee performances of each of our high school productions to K-5 classrooms and patrons with special needs.
Programs for families
Playtime Poppy loves to sing and dance and play. Our Summer Theatre Adventure is a week-long theatre experience for ages 7 -14 designed to immerse the cast and crew in theatre, culture and community.
College scholarships
Providing scholarship support to high school seniors who have participated enthusiastically in theatre is near and dear to Playtime Poppy. Cedar Rapids Community School District high school seniors with a love of the dramatic arts, whether onstage or working behind the scenes, are encouraged to consider applying for a Playtime Poppy College Scholarship.
