The Incredible Adventures of Captain Spoon, the Forgetful Pirate

    October 11 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Captain Spoon is one of the greatest pirates to ever sail the seven seas, but he has a small problem. He is forgetful. In fact, he has forgotten where he left his boat, where his crew has gone, and where he buried his treasure. The good news is that he has a map, a determination never to give up, and you, the audience, to help him every step of the way. Join Captain Spoon as his map leads him to pouty parrots, surf-shredding sharks, a tap-dancing octopus, and grand adventure.

    Playtime Poppy Children's Theatre

A little bit of history! The Incredible Adventures of Captain Spoon, the Forgetful Pirate was written for Brucemore Outdoor Children’s Theater in 2007 by Joe Link (Jefferson HS drama director). The cast included current Playtime Poppy board members, Brian Smith and Kristen Wilcox, Washington HS drama director, Carrie Tinkham, and Jefferson HS drama director, Bryan Schlotfelt (who is directing the current production at Jefferson!). For the past two summers, Playtime Poppy has partnered with Brucemore to present Outdoor Children’s Theater under the direction of Kennedy HS drama director, Nick Hayes. The Peggy Boyle Whitworth Outdoor Amphitheater at Brucemore has been a fabulous collaboration space for children’s theatre, Cedar Rapids high school drama directors and Playtime Poppy. For more information about Brucemore Outdoor Children’s Theater, visit their website here: www.brucemore.org/events/annual-events/childrens-theatre/ We look forward to seeing Captain Spoon return to the stage at Jefferson High School!
